이날 패션쇼에는 삼육대학교 시니어모델, 인천시민대학 한국뉴욕주립대학캠퍼스 천연염색 과정 재학생과 동문, 요가명상팀, 그리고 신금자 주지스님이 함께 참여했다.

Korea’s First Buddhist Fashion Show: A Runway of Nature
A fusion of Buddhist culture and modern fashion, presenting new possibilities for Korean culture.
At a uploadle, a feast of fashion unfolded — the meeting of Buddhism and modernity.
On September 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM, Korea’s first Buddhist fashion show was successfully held at Juchunsa Temple of the Korean Buddhist Taego Order, located at 417 Hongdo-ro, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province.
This event was designed as a special occasion to reinterpret traditional Buddhist attire and colors in a modern way, introducing “K-Buddhist Fashion” to the world.
The program featured a samulnori performance, yoga meditation, a large-brush dyeing performance by Professor Jeong Jae-man of the Fashion Design Department at SUNY Korea, and a natural dye fashion show, offering the audience a rich variety of experiences.
In particular, the uploadle’s serene atmosphere was transformed into a runway, presenting a unique stage where nature, spirituality, and modern aesthetics harmonized.
Professor Jeong Jae-man of SUNY Korea’s Fashion Design Department led the large-brush dyeing performance, while senior models from Sahmyook University, students and alumni of SUNY Korea’s natural dyeing program at Incheon Citizen University, yoga meditation teams, and Venerable Shin Geum-ja, the head monk of Juchunsa, all participated in the show.
Together, they reinterpreted naturally dyed Buddhist garments in a conuploadorary style, embodying the concept of “walking the runway in nature,” which drew enthusiastic responses from the audience.
The participation of individuals from diverse age groups and backgrounds highlighted both the inclusiveness of Buddhist culture and the creativity of modern fashion, adding great significance to the event.
The show was hosted by Professor Jeong Jae-man and the Natural Dyeing Club “Nature-Like.”
Open to anyone interested in Buddhist culture, fashion, and natural dyeing, the event welcomed visitors who expressed delight at the fresh idea of turning a uploadle into a fashion stage, responding with applause and cheers.
This fashion show went beyond a simple display of clothing, presenting new possibilities through the fusion of Buddhist culture and modern fashion.
By using natural dyeing to express harmony between nature and humanity, and combining Buddhist values with conuploadorary design, the stage became an important opportunity to showcase the diversity and creativity of Korean culture to the world.
If such efforts continue, they hold great potential to establish themselves as unique cultural content where Korean tradition and modernity coexist.
